Astronergy enters market for monocrystalline modules of up to 310 Watts

Monocrystalline modules are being manufactured in Germany

Frankfurt (Oder)/Germany, 11.10.2016 – Astronergy enters the market for monocrystalline solar modules. In addition to polycrystalline solar modules, the highly automated plant in Frankfurt an der Oder, Germany, has recently taken up the production of monocrystalline solar modules in premium and standard power classifications. The manufacturer has utilized the newest generation of PERC cells for the particularly high-performance modules in the 295 to 310 Watt peak (Wp) power classes. According to the test results from TÜV Rheinland, the new mono modules are more resilient than average.

Completely black modules

“In addition to the standard mono modules with silver frames, we also offer completely black mono modules. We tested the black cells of several established tier 1 cell manufacturers, but only two were able to meet our high expectations concerning the colour depth and uniformity of the cells,” explains Thomas Volz, CEO at Astronergy Solarmodule GmbH.

In addition to these extremely high-quality black solar cells, Astronergy also uses black covering strips which hide the silver cross connections on the upper and lower edge of the module, so that the module appears completely black. The particularly homogenous glass of a German high-quality manufacturer completes the uniform look of the Full Black Modules.

“Black mono modules are in high demand for family homes. We were especially impressed with the extremely uniform appearance of the Full Black Module. For this reason, we are delighted that Astronergy, as one Germany’s leading module manufacturers, has expanded its product range,” explains Günter Haug, Managing Director of BayWa r.e. renewable energy GmbH.

Monocrystalline modules “Made in Germany”

The new ASM6610M standard mono modules with silver frames are available from distributors in the standard power class between 275 to 290 Wp and in the premium power class of 295 to 300 Wp. The completely black mono module “Violin ASM6610M (BL)” is available in the power class of 275 to 285 Wp. Series production of the highly efficient black module "Violin ASM6610M (BL) Premium" featuring PERC technology with up to 305 Wp capacity, and the mono module with silver frames in the premium power class up to 310 Wp is set to begin in mid October and will subsequently be available from distributors. All modules are produced at the Astronergy plant in Frankfurt an der Oder, Germany.

Test results: Extremely resilient

All monocrystalline modules from Astronergy passed the extended  stress tests from TÜV Rheinland with flying colours: During the test under a tensile load of 5,400 pascal – which can occur in very strong winds – the modules exhibited only minimal degradation of under 1%. This demonstrates that this solar module withstands considerably higher wind loads than many other modules on the market.

In addition to this, the new mono modules performed better than average regarding compressive load: with a load capacity of 6,000 pascal, they are also well suited to regions with high snow loads. This is partly due to the 40mm strong frame profile which has proven its extreme stability over years of being used in the field for other Astronergy modules. The new modules also fared well when tested for resistance to ammonia and salt mist corrosion.

The manufacturer offers a product warranty of 12 years and a linear performance warranty of 25 years.
